Potters Heart Child Foundation. Founder's welcome message. My name is Mwesige Ahmed Sulyman, 46 years of age, married with four children and I am a Christian confessed and believer……
I grew up a vulnerable child, struggled for education right from my childhood, finished primary level and later dropped out of school in secondary one. Twenty years on the road God paved the way for me again to enroll back in school at an old age (36 years). I registered as a private student for senior four and six, passed well with good points and joined University. I choose to do my bachelor’s degree in Social work as a gateway to fulfill my ambition in working with and for the orphans and other vulnerable children and helping other marginalized groups of people in our society. My success in education was not my own struggle but God, indeed my life and education is a living testimony that God can turn the impossible things into possible. I am what I am today because someone out there was important in my life to support my education.

While at school, I did my internship with child related agencies and social work departments so as to expose me to the world of social work in relation to promoting the needs, rights and interests of the orphans and other vulnerable children. When I graduated I got a job with Kids of Africa- Swiss African children’s village where I served as a social worker for fours from where I resigned to start up an organization “The potter’s Heart Child Foundation” with a different approach of strengthening the African families and communities where children should be raised or helped, but not keeping them in the institutional homes neither giving them away to international adoption families.

Our organization philosophy is to preserve the family values and minimizing family separation where we see children grows up in a natural family and in his/her community. We empower families through economic strengthening for self-reliance, solicit for the education fund for OVCs, and also provide psychosocial support to improve on child care, support and protection.

Helping vulnerable children and all those in needs is my special vocation and a reason for me to live. Let’s join hand and give back to our community by helping children in need.
